The advanced metallic gauntlets that John Fox wore allowed him to travel through time. He also wore a black and blue costume with red lines running through it. Then, he went back even further, to the century 853. He put on a new Flash suit and joined the Justice Legion A. The body-sized lightning bolt and friction-reducing shields that hovered above his body were part of the red and gold metallic costume.

Jay Garrick was the original Flash in the DC world. During World War II, he collaborated with groups like the All-Star Squadron, and later, the Justice Society of America. Fans immediately embraced Garrick’s debut outfit as The Flash, making it a classic. Yet, it doesn’t always have the same dynamic appearance as other heroes.
Blue slacks and a scarlet long-sleeved blouse with a yellow lightning bolt on the breast made up Garrick’s outfit. It was a straightforward appearance that suited the character perfectly. Hermes, the God of Speed, served as an inspiration for Garrick’s famous helmet. It has evolved into the Flash’s signature look and a practical fighting tool.

A television adaption of The Flash with Grant Gustin in the lead aired on The CW as a part of the Arrowverse series. In practically every season of The Flash, he appeared as Barry Allen and got a new outfit. His outfits paid homage to the comics and replicated the legendary character’s look.
The costumes were altered over time by The Flash, though. A dark leather outfit and a form-fitting mask with subtle accents were part of the costumes for the first and second seasons. To better match the comic outfit, the costume emphasised the yellow accents and softened the red. The costume was refined in the eighth season with the addition of Flash’s iconic yellow boots, the New 52 lining, and a sleek cowl.
- Wally West’s costume
He made his debut as Kid Flash, Barry Allen’s companion. Yet, Wally West spent years acting as his mentor after The Flash died in Crisis on Infinite Earths because he wasn’t quick enough. When Barry Allen did come back, Wally West changed into a new outfit. He dressed himself in a somewhat different new attire using the Speed Force.
Wally’s “graduated” Flash outfit had a darker crimson, and the lightning portions had a more ominous metallic appearance. To help distinguish the two Flashes, his cowl was significantly tweaked. Due to the New 52 relaunch, this costume tragically had a brief lifespan. Fortunately, West donned this outfit once more in DC’s Infinite Frontier, giving him another opportunity to utilise the dynamic suit.
